The Word of the Day....

The Word of the Day....GUILT.
  • An emotional experience that occurs when a person realizes or believes that he/she has violated a moral standard, and bears significant responsibility for that violation.
  • It is closely related to the concept of remorse.

Guilt. What is it? It's when you feel lower than low itself. You feel like the lowest piece of dirt on the most rotten patch of mold in the most disgusting place on the planet. You feel close to death and would go back in time to undo what you just did. Do you feel this way because you got caught? Or is it because you genuinely care about the ramifications of your actions? Well, you can't. You can't go back in time, you can't undo what you did, and the only way to help cope with the overbearing pain you feel is to go to that person you wronged and apologize. Apologizing doesn't always fix things, however, it's important to show your remorse and prove to that person your realization of the depths of your mistake. You have to come clean, be honest with yourself, and let it ALL out. You can't hold back ANYTHING; the only way you'll be able to continue with life and to eventually feel better is to say EVERYTHING that makes up that ball and chain that is guilt. Once you do that, whether or not you get the desired result of your honesty, you own up to your own responsibility as an adult (man/woman) and accept the consequences of your actions. With this said, you move on with life WITH or WITHOUT the thing that meant so much to you before you messed it up. That, is the consequence you must live with.
