Wiz Khalifa Speaks On Drake Tour Offer

Yesterday night, Drake took to UStream took to speak on his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares tour. During the broadcast, Drizzy said he wanted Wiz Khalifa to join him and Clipse on their national outing next month. XXLMag.com just got off the phone with the Pittsburgh MC, who says, though he’s honored, he respectfully declines, due to his own solo Waken Baken tour kicking off at the same time.

“Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight, to me,” he said. “It just lets me know that I’m doin’ what I need to be doin’ as far as stayin’ relevant and stayin’ poppin’. But I think to keep me poppin and keep me relevant I gotta stay buildin’ on top of what I’m doin’ and what I been doin’. No disrespect to cuz or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep buildin’ and keep my brand as strong as what it is. I gotta keep focusin’ on what it is. This is my first tour that I got comin’ up, the Waken Baken tour, I gotta at least kick that off and make that it what it is so we can do 10 more.”

The 2010 XXL Freshman joked that when he can earn as much money as the Young Money star did last year, than they can tour. “I’m real happy for Drake and real proud of Drake, “ he said. “I was lookin’ on the internet and that made $10 million this year. So maybe when I make $10 Million than we can tour. “

“We can do like some special dates or some surprise guest type thing, but I need 10 mill too Drake,” he added laughing.

While Wiz won’t be on the bill for Light Dreams and Nightmares, he says he would love to meet the Canadian rapper/singer. “I really want to meet him and chop it up with him,” he said. “I wanna meet him, chop it up, smoke one with him and who knows what could happen. But its all positive right now.”

The Waken Baken tour will kick off on September 16 at Philadelphia’s Trocadero Theatre and will make two stops in Canada. Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. will make guest appearances as well.'

Regret

Its true. That you never know what you've got until it's gone...I had IT. Lost IT. Found IT. And now I refuse to let YOU go. I said what I said that one time way back when...that time I said I wouldn't do what I did. The way I felt doesn't matter. All that matters is the now and the future, both of which I refuse to experience without you. When I hold you close to me I sync out breathing, lean in closer and listen to that beautiful thing beating within. I see what was wrong. Fear consumed me. I admit it. But I killed him. He's gone. And it's only me, and you. For now...and forever.

N.E.R.D. in ATL's own Centennial Olympic Park. [8.14.2010]

This was by far the most fun I've ever had at a free concert. It was at Centennial Olympic Park earlier today and was sponsored by Jose Cuervo. N.E.R.D. really did their thing and kept the crowd wild and crazy. There was crowd surfin, crazyness, and EVERYWHERE you turn there was a different type of person gettin hype to each and every song. That's the thing I like most about N.E.R.D., they attract all different types of people from different backgrounds. These pictures were BEFORE I got swallowed into the giant mosh pit at the foot of the stage...CRAZY NIGHT.

How Much Would You Pay For Jay-Z-Designed Air Force 1s?

Jay-Z collaborated with Nike to design these custom AF1s for the first ever World Basketball Festival. Each shoe represents one of the five countries participating. You've got France, Puerto Rico, the USA, China and Brazil. And each shoe is, obviously, all black. The designs have lots of subtle differences and one obvious one — the heel, which features the name of each country. Now Hov is auctioning these things off to benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The coolest part about these kicks though is how ridiculously exclusive they are. Jay owns a pair and whoever wins the auction will own a pair. There are 9 days and 20 hrs left on auctions. The highest bid, for the USA pair, is $1,525.

USA

BRAZIL

FRANCE

CHINA

PUERTO RICO

Go bid...but only if you ballin like that.

Time

Of all the things in this world, Time is the most valuable. Those with the most money imaginable would trade it all for time. It happens to all of us; we screw up in one area of our lives and wish we can turn back the hands of the clock and undo the damage we've done. While we all know its impossible to go back in time, we still wish for it and would probably do anything to get the chance. You've heard of the saying "Time is of the essence," right? You know as well as I do that it's true. Most don't like to dwell on it, but we don't have much time left. You can take that in any way you want. Meaning, you can apply that to life as a whole or a specific piece of the puzzle. People love to quote the famous "Carpe diem!" and do their best to live life to the fullest. But even through their efforts, the sands of time stop falling for no one. I think of time like this: an invisible timer attached to every living thing. We know not the day nor hour it stops ticking. Some say that's the worst part, but for me, I look at it with an alternate mindset and say that's what makes life worth living. If we all knew when our flames would go out, I highly doubt the motivation that most have in life would still be there. Regardless of anything I've said, people will live their lives the way they see fit...WITH or WITHOUT making an imprint in the world they will soon leave behind. Stop wasting time.

MetroPCS Steppin They Game Up...

I was surfin the web earlier and came across  the news that MetroPCS now offers the Blackberry Curve 8530. Wow is all I can say. Now the "NO CONTRACTS" phone company has  4 smartphones that they offer. MetroPCS says: Wi-Fi support, full HTML browser, full QWERTY keyboard, built-in BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), corporate email support, 2.0 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth technology, and external memory support all for $279. Looks like this is the real deal. People may finally start taking MetroPCS a whole lot more serious. They offer two BLACKBERRY devices without a contract.

Also, an image of the first Android phone to ever hit MetroPCS was leaked the other day. It will include Android 2.1 customized with Motoblur layered on top. It's rumored to get a 600MHz processor and a 3-megapixel camera. The horizontal slider is also believed to get a touchscreen that's about three inches in size. A unique feature of the QWERTY keyboard is a .com button. The face of the handset has an offset home button the surround for which could also be a directional pad, but this is not confirmed. Pricing or a release date for the unnamed MetroPCS hardware remains unknown.

The Word of the Day...

 The Word of the Day...HATE.
  • to dislike intensely or passionately
  • feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest

One of the most misused words in the English language. Most don't know the true meaning of what they really mean when they say they "hate" something. This word represents an intense, burning hatred for something. Saying you "hate" someone or something is very powerful. But the often use of this word burns out the meaning behind it. People say it too much and over the years it has lost its punch. Another definition says hate: "expresses a deep-rooted horror and a sense of repugnance or complete rejection." So when you say you hate somthing, you're saying somwhere there is DEEP-ROOTED horror in whatever it is you feel so strongly about. "Hate" and "love" may be complete opposites of one another, but they are both similar in the sense that they are widely used by everyone, and in this day and age, have lost their meaning. Extremes are no longer extreme.

The Word of the Day....

The Word of the Day is...LISTEN

This one is so simple that you don't even need all the other many definitions. Today, everyone is so afraid of not being heard that we are often too busy speaking to listen. Listening to something/someone can be much more important than saying anything. By listening I mean making eye-contact and being free from all other distractions in order to get the most out of the conversation. The less you speak, the more you hear. Ever been approached by a friend that needed to vent? All they need is to be heard, which requires you to shutup and listen to what they have to say. By you keeping your mouth shut, it helps then to talk out whatever problem they have and can eventually help them find the solution to their own problem. There's been times where I never said a word to someone that needed someone to just LISTEN. 20 minutes later they had talked it out and thanked me for my help...even when you didn't actively do anything but listen. Listening is NOT a weakness but a sure sign of wisdom and maturity.

Amazing

Volcano Lightning

Bubble burst

The American Puppetmaster

Ever seen this man? Didn't think so. His name is Edward Bernays, nephew of Sigmund Freud. Why is he on my blog today? Well, he just wasn't just any man, THIS man was the first to attempt to manipulate public opinion using the subconscious. Let me explain that: he would use different psychological techniques to get you to buy things by appealing to the side of you that DESIRES things instead of actually NEEDING them. Bernays was a master of deception. He worked in the field of PR (Public Relations) and one of Bernays' favorite techniques for manipulating public opinion was the indirect use of "third party authorities" to plead his clients' causes. He said:

"If you can influence the leaders, either with or without their conscious cooperation, you automatically influence the group which they sway"

It's clear from just that ONE STATEMENT alone that this man's theories and practices border-lined on the conventional means of MIND CONTROL. Take apart his statement: If you can influence the leaders (political leaders, celebrities, well-known individuals) with or WITHOUT their CONSCIOUS COOPERATION, you can AUTOMATICALLY influence WHATEVER GROUP THEY ARE IN CHARGE OVER. For example: if I want to sell a new product that is made for women of any color, age, culture, and financial background who would I need to influence? I would go to a well-known ICON in the eyes of women all around the world. Now, you ask WHO COULD FIT THE ROLE FOR THAT IN THIS DAY AND AGE? Oprah. I would have gone to her, and either got her cooperation willingly or would have made it worth her while to help me promote my product. Some could argue that there's nothing wrong with that...OK...read his next statement and say that:

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind."

Whoa whoa whoaaa. "IT IS THEY [the relatively small number of persons] who pull the wires which to control the public mind." So yall can honestly sit there and tell me that yall are fine with having your emotions and desires CLEARLY manipulated in order to fund big business consumerism? If you can say that then stop reading now and exit this tab. This man could be looked at as a genius, 'the father or public relations', or someone that was truly on to something. But you want to know what the sad thing is? This information doesn't need to be hidden or covered up. It's free and easily accessible to the public but because we are all too caught up in STUFF we'll never take this seriously. All we want to focus on is how we will better OURSELVES by any means necessary. That, right there, is ridiculous.

How Materialistic Are We?

The U.S. makes up 5% of the world's population and CONSUMES 25% of the world's goods

The average credit card debt of the American household is $15,788; and the average interest rate is 14.67%

The total consumer debt in America is 2.45 TRILLION DOLLARS. (with a "T")

The national debt is 13.3 TRILLION DOLLARS (with another "T") and continues to rise at 4.13 BILLION/DAY

1.4 MILLION Americans filed personal bankruptcy in 2009, which is a 32% increase from 2008 (IN ONE YEAR)

The average American now works 160 more hours/year than in 1969 (1 FULL MONTH MORE) Time with children has declined 22 hours/week since 1969.

In a 10 year study on suicide, Dr. Erin Beck said:
"The more money you make, the more likely you are to commit suicide."

The more a person makes, the more likely they are to cheat in their marriage:
Under $30,000- 31% :: Over $60,000- 70%

9 out of 10 Americans believe our society is materialistic

93% of Americans feel we are too focused on making money

91% of Americans say we consume more than we need

SO...what are we going to do about this? *crickets*

Kanye West's 'Power' Video Explained...

This article was taken via MTV.com (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1645307/20100806/west_kanye.jhtml)

Ram-horned guards, floating nymphs, knife-wielding attackers, water flowing upward — huh?!?
If you can't make heads or tails out of the groundbreaking "video montage" Kanye West and artist Marco Brambilla produced for West's "Power," relax. You're not alone.

After the clip's Thursday premiere on MTV, Kanye tweeted: "It's not a video ... It's a moving painting!" During his recent talks with MTV News Brambilla described the 90-second piece, which is made of 24 layers of video, as a "visual ballet." Others have called it a "living portrait." A visual ballet painting? Yeah, that wasn't good enough for us either.

So we consulted people who have devoted their lives to studying, analyzing and producing art, and they're confused too.

"What stood out to me was his ridiculous big chain. I don't know what that was all about," photographer Gianna Leofalcon said about the six-figure, gold medallion that depicts one of the oldest Egyptian deities, Horus.

"If that [chain] was real, he wouldn't be standing up," joked painter and illustrator Misha T.
"It symbolizes power," said graphic artist and rapper Wordspit. "Back in the day, [Egyptians] used to wear nothing but gold jewelry, and that was a sense of power with them. I feel like it symbolizes that."

Fellow graphic artist Suede Jury agreed: "The chain is larger than life. Everything about the video is larger than life."

"Yo, this dude, Marco. He's bananas, son," said painter Ibrahim Baaith. "And what's cool is that he's shooting all this and incorporating it into, like, a painting. He's not just taking classical images and just smashing it together. He's completely original, and I like where he and Kanye took it. He's definitely pushing the envelope."

The problem comes when you ask which direction the envelope is being pushed. Some say it permanently raised the bar for hip-hop videos, but Leofalcon said when it comes to male/female relations, "Power" goes the same old route.
"What are all the women doing below him?" she asked. "What message is that sending? We're already dealing with inequality between men and women, particularly in hip-hop. I'm sick and tired of having a bunch of girls surrounding a man in videos in general.

"I would challenge Kanye to have a woman by his side to give the message that there is equality between him and a beautiful woman," she added.

"He's showing his position of power. He indulges in the women," Wordspit countered. "I could understand that you want him to have a woman by his side. It probably would have looked cool. ... But at the same time, Kanye is a loner. Kanye feels like he's alone. And I think that was one of the purposes of this video — to just show that even though I'm in a position of power. I'm still mortal."

Misha T broke down the video like this: "The song is called 'Power.' When you're on top, everybody's trying to bring you down to claim that spot. He's trying to show you this picture-perfect world where, yeah, you have goddesses surrounding you. But at the same time, you have guys trying to stab you in the back."

And that sword over his head? It's the Sword of Damocles. Don't even get us started on that ...

The Word of the Day...

The Word of the Day is....POWER.

  • a measure of an entity's ability to control the environment around itself
  • Power can be seen as evil or unjust, but the exercise of power is accepted as endemic to humans as social beings

Power. I get chills from just saying this word. Power has so many definitions that you could start a blog trying to cover all its aspects. The type of power that I want to talk about is the idea that we humans use on a day to day basis. The money, the respect, and the what? Power is what men in the past have put their lives on the line to acquire. You can look back at ANY war in history and not know the specifics of why the war started but I'm sure the reasons boil down for the everlasting fight for power. One group has it, it's seen by another group, and that group is willing to take it under any circumstance. The quest for power can be both a noble and/or selfish one. Depending on your motives and intentions it can go both ways. Unfortunately we can look back in history and see that any time one man or group of individuals acquired power, it didn't take long for it to go to their heads. Another thing that comes with power is corruption. I guess I could be corny and quote Uncle Ben from Spiderman and say: "With great power comes great responsibility!" but its all so true. Don't let corruption consume you.
