The Word of the Day....Façade
- Can be used as a figure of speech as well, to describe the "face" that people show other people.
There's no complicated definition here, and I'm sure the image above does a good job of painting the picture. Whether or not we all admit it, we all put on façades to cope with life in general. Some people wear them for the right reasons, while others use them with a deceptive means. Deceptive as in, hiding the REAL "them" inside and trying to make it look like their someone else in an attempt to gain acceptance with a certain group of people. Whether that be a certain "unacceptable" lifestyle, personality trait, or even an alliance. To me, it's not worth it. It takes way too much energy to keep it up for a long period of time (and that's usually the goal). You should never be ashamed of what/who you are. Show the real you with no strings attached.
