The Word of the Day is....VANITY.
- excessive belief in one's own abilities or attractiveness to others.
- In many religions vanity, in its modern sense, is considered a form of self-idolatry
In my eyes, this is one of the most disgusting and unattractive habits to have. Being vain irritates me to the point of bringing out the violence within me. I hate when someone takes self-confidence to the extreme and truly believes that everyone loves them or everyone wants to be them. Vanity is only a sign of a more serious issue of low self-esteem. Those that are vain require people to compliment them frequently and compare them to the rest. Telling a vain person they are ugly has the same effect of telling an anorexic that they are fat. Psychologically, they NEED to know they are the best looking, have the best talent, and can do it better than everybody else. It's a sickness that can consume its host.
